    Pros

Competitive Pay, benefits , incentive pay and flexible hours. Meet new people everyday. If you are a quick learner and not easily intimidated by strong personalities you will do well.

    Cons

Jobs requires 80% travel. Lacks organization structure. Leadership is only in the title, lacks professionalism and does not promote professional development. Office Politics has no boundaries.

    Advice to Management

Leadership positions should not just be a title. Supervisor and Managers should have emotional maturity- everyday should not be a bad day. Separate work and personal life. Ongoing supervisory training should be required. Support subordinates, and most importantly know what their subordinates daily duties.

I worked at University Hospitals of Cleveland as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Rotated at main campus and several community UH hospitals. Learned a great deal from most of my preceptors. Glad I could rotate here and learn from UH's employees without too much of a hassle. Appreciated being able to park for free, even though the lot was far away. Really enjoyed working with the trauma department the most.

I felt UH had more of a patient focus than a business focus. That can be difficult to maintain nowadays.

    Cons

Only one bad rotation while in the adult ED at main campus. Preceptor was not the best (impatient and didn't teach much.) Was too busy and saw very few important things (in two months, I saw two lacerations.)

EMR could be better, but not the worst I've seen.

Parking office could be very abrasive.

    Advice to Management

Continue to allow students (nurse practitioner, pa students, paramedic students, medical students, and nursing students) to continue to learn here. It was a great asset to my learning.

I worked at University Hospitals of Cleveland full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It was an honor to work with such a great group of outstanding physician's and supportive co-workers. We made a great team.

    Cons

With the transition from an independent hospital to a larger system, the moral of phydicians and staff declined somewhat. Many changes occurred

    Advice to Management

Your best loyal and dedicated employees do not always need degrees, experience proves much more than a piece of paper.

I have been working at University Hospitals of Cleveland full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work environment is slightly relaxed, coworkers are friendlier than other hospitals.

    Cons

Pay is terrible (at least 30% below competing hospital), HR is a joke in helping employees, draconian policies are coming into place, parking is expensive and can be very difficult in assigned garages, scheduling for medical persons can be a huge headache, and UH does NOT seem to want to hire from within to improve their employees satisfaction and engagement

    Advice to Management

    1) large pay increases immediately 2) vastly decrease cost of parking by taking ownership of the garages 3) start hiring within from employees in a dead end job 4) model your health insurance plans similar to Cleveland Clinic
