    Pros

The patients are very grateful for the care that they receive and the most co-workers are more like family

    Cons

Does not have a HR team that will help employees when there is an issue with a manager. Some managers does not listen to the workers that are doing the job on a daily basis.

    Advice to Management

Be better listeners and keep in mind that workers do care about their job and really care about the patients.

I worked at University Hospitals of Cleveland full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the funniest, kindest people work at University Hospitals. The people who work there genuinely do care about the mission and what they are trying to achieve.

    Cons

Stay in your lane is a very common phrase to hear. There is little room for expanding your skill set and going above and beyond feels frowned upon. Management has trouble processing any sort of extra step you try to take for the better of the department and views it as causing confusion or looks at it as poor you having to work more, despite telling them how excited you are to be a part of this project. Every step of a project needs run up the ranks and regardless of your own title and being told to "drive" a project, all decisions must really come from higher up. You can predict the outcome weeks before they are decided, but still must wait for final say before moving forward. Ownership of your own work is not allowed.

    Advice to Management

Trust your team. You hire them for a reason. You are managers/directors/VP's now. Your name is not supposed to be on the project anymore, your team members names are. You are inherently credited with the project because it is your teams project. You do not need to be in the weeds and actually taking the ownership and credit from your team in order to achieve that. If you still crave that style of work, you are not a manager, you are an individual contributor.

To the top level - stop pushing this style of management. You are creating micro-managers and discontented lower level workers who feel like all they do is complete tasks. Then, when they get their hand slapped when something doesn't get completed correctly due to conflicting information, the dialogue changes and is all about how these are high level jobs. Treat them as such. You can't have it both ways.

I have been working at University Hospitals of Cleveland full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Supportive supervisory staff, plenty of PTO time, perks/rewards from administration, well organized and established organization.

    Cons

Very few training opportunities for social workers, expectations and job role will often change/expand with little to no notice. Health insurance is very expensive, but other benefits are good and raises are comparable to other health organizations.

Benefits are not the best; need a few years seniority to choose shift preferences on most floors; a lot of change going on, so prepare to be flexible.

    Pros

Very up to date in terms of equipment
    Flexible hours
It had started right but then things started to decline.

    Cons

Workload fairly heavy and some of the individuals that you have to interact with are not friendly and make for a difficult place to be.
Some of the other teams are much better managed.

    Advice to Management

Listen to all your team members and not only the ones you think they are right.
