I worked at University Medical Center (Lubbock) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great place to start as a new grad nurse with lots of other new nurses. Good ICU internship program that helps show you the ropes of working in the ICU.

    Cons

Lots of new grads is a blessing and a curse. It's difficult to get more opportunities for learning when you're competing with everyone else for the same limited resources. Ideal if you're looking for a year of experience then planning to go elsewhere, though don't expect people to be too happy with you.
Also, you're expected to work an 82-hour schedule, 3 shifts one week, 4 shifts the next. 72 hours is also considered full-time, but I think you have to start at 82 hours.

    Advice to Management

Management says they're checking on everyone regularly, but mostly they're just checking with the charge nurses to see how you're doing. Talk to management directly if you're having an issue.
