    Pros

For every 2 hours spent in class another 30 minutes are paid for preparation.

    Cons

If you enjoy working with people, there are no drawbacks. Students are cool and usually, there's not direct supervision of lecturers.

    Advice to Management

Encourage students to use demontrators' services more.

I have been working at University of Aberdeen full-time

    Pros

Good respect between colleagues and provided great care in terms of workload to be able to manage the research work that you wish to undertake at the university facilities.

    Cons

The machinery in the labs, especially in engineering does not function and very hard to get a hold of. There is only one workshop and sometimes to get a hold of a specific build request is difficult.

    Advice to Management

Please fix the machinery in the engineering department and please employ competent lecturers that know the ins and outs of the subject, as opposed to someone who thinks they know but gets super negative feedback during exams

I have been working at University of Aberdeen (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Get teaching experience while studying your PhD.
    - Learn to manage time with research work.
    - Build a wider knowledge base.
    - Hourly pay is quite good.

    Cons

    - At times schedules tend to be hectic.

I have been working at University of Aberdeen part-time

    Pros

    - Colleagues are pleasant to work with across the board, support staff, academic staff and management alike
    - Management are very approachable and considerate towards employees
    - King's College campus is physically a pleasant place to work with many different food outlets and pristine facilities
    - Great staff benefits including USS/UASLAS pension, free gym membership worth roughly £300, library access and a number of discounts and offers
    - A true "equal opportunities" employer; staff are very diverse

    Cons

    - The IT facilities are notoriously unreliable, and the IT Services team can be really sluggish in responding to support calls even for simple things, particularly around the beginning of each semester
    - Interdepartmental communication can be very ineffective and slow unless you have specific contacts to rely on to take things through more efficient channels. To this end I recommend taking every opportunity to network with colleagues across other departments in case you ever need anything done

    Advice to Management

Hire more IT people. I know the budget is tight, but I'd even prioritise more IT service staff over upgrading the actual IT itself, because the waiting times get worse every year.
