I worked at University of Alabama in Huntsville full-time

    Pros

Great mid-sized location in reasonably priced town conveniently located in the Southeast. Students are generally friendly, and many that I taught want to perform well. Faculty are more friendly than other universities, and it's nice to be part of a big state university system that has other areas of expertise and resources. Good academic support for students considering student size.

    Cons

Student academic performance is generally bimodal with some excellent/very good students and some fairly weak students, which can make teaching a large classes challenging. Some departments are very political with individuals who make life difficult for those who don't conform to their individual expectations.
