I have been working at University of Alabama in Huntsville part-time

    Pros

Research university atmosphere; cross-departmental collaboration; ardent effort by Multicultural staff to bring cultural diversity to both staff and students.

    Cons

Too little effort by faculty to pull students out of apathetic head space into the many extracurricular activities offered by the university. Why aren't faculty members working more with marketing to learn how to engage students in cultural activities, research, etc. They pick out a few motivated star pupils and forget the rest.

    Advice to Management

Use your marketing department to teach faculty what they need to know about promoting better student engagement. Non-curricular programs, like career services and multicultural organizations, even athletics, could really benefit from some training on promotion and cross-promotion. Even the RCEU had to extend deadline because faculty don't know how to promote something that would DIRECTLY benefit students, faculty, and the University.
