I have been working at University of Arkansas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Benefits, Benefits, Benefits.
    - They benefits (health, dental, vacation, retirement match, etc.) are all great perks of working here.

    Cons

    - When upper administration turns over, there is always a 2-3 year lag in goals and clarity.
    - There needs to be a better pay increase structure for faculty and staff. Someone from the outside has a better chance of making more in a given position than someone who applies internally. Any internal increase above 10% has to be approved by the chancellor.

    Advice to Management

    - There needs to be a better pay increase structure for faculty and staff. Someone from the outside has a better chance of making more in a given position than someone who applies internally. Any internal increase above 10% has to be approved by the chancellor.
    - Tuition rates have increased significantly over the last 10-15 years. However, staff salaries remain stagnate. There is no way an administrative assistant should start out making $17,000. I understand that the state controls classified positions, but we, as the flagship, have to take a stand for more.

Life/work balance, ability to connect from home. Employee discount on tuition. People across campus are great to work with.

    Cons

Lack of leadership/vision. Difficult to plan when strategy is whimsically changing. Words and actions for leadership do not match.
