    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at University of Arkansas at Little Rock full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Gain experience doing lots of different tasks. Work to train future generations of leaders. Good entertainment, retirement and health benefits.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for upward mobility. This makes the institution a place that feels more like a stepping stone than a place to build a successful career. Lack of access to well trained support staff. Resources are spread very thin which can make it hard to invest in necessary human and physical infrastructure improvements. Institutional relationship is not strong with the local city government or business sector.

    Advice to Management

Focus on doing fewer things and do those things well. Form partnerships with other educational institutions in the city to strengthen networks and matriculations pathways. Invest in quality professional development for support staff to improve professionalism of employees. Address salary inequities.

    Cons

No professional growth in this university. The salary is very low and can stay the same forever. The amount of work performed does not matter to get promotion or salary hike. You have to be a favorite to get it. This is a place for lazy people only. The nanocenter here do meaningless research and the skills acquired here is useless to find a job anywhere. They just use fantastic researchers to produce papers for their...

    Advice to Management

Raise the salary and provide professional growth to postdocs. And stop wasting millions of taxpayers dollars on meaningless research with no real world value.
