I have been working at University of Arkansas at Little Rock full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Committed, dedicated people on the front lines and in middle management

    Cons

Kind of an awful place to be an employee. Executive management fights to build fiefdoms rather than working together to build a strong university--or even working to do what's right for students and employees. Pay is low, even for comparable higher education jobs, and there is a lot of pay compression and inequity. Morale is low (worked in corporate for years and find this environment exceedingly more toxic). You have...

    Advice to Management

Wake up and take care of the human side of the organization. Correct pay inequity. Recognize the contributions and needs of non-faculty employees. Learn to communicate, work together, and focus on building something besides their own careers.

I have been working at University of Arkansas at Little Rock full-time

    Pros

Working with students, planning events and working closely the provost, chancellor, etc..

    Cons

Although I work 40 hours a week, 20 hours in two different department, I do not qualify for benefits and still considered part-time. A lot of mismanagement and poor leadership. Departments do not work together. The custodial staff do absolutely nothing at all which is why the Student Center and building in general are never really clean.

I have been working at University of Arkansas at Little Rock

      Pros

Work schedule is flexible and most of the professors are very friendly. The learning environment is also not bad and moreover they pay your tuition and pay you stipend.

      Cons

Some of the professors can make your life miserable. If you do not have basics on the particular ground, then you are in trouble.

I have been working at University of Arkansas at Little Rock full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Tuition discount, nice co-workers, decent facilities available to employees. The breakfast and lunch summer benefits are a positive step. Also the lunch truck programs from time to time are nice.

      Cons

Managers have little to no personnel training. Many do not have appropriate professional academic credentials for business areas they support. Favoritism and nepotism in hiring and promotion is rampant.

      Advice to Management

Everyone has to be held as accountable. The past is how we learn from our mistakes.
