    Neutral Outlook

I worked at University of Arkansas at Little Rock full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Diverse student population and caring faculty.

    Cons

Terrible administration; teachers are expected to go FAR above and beyond what would be expected of them at other colleges/universities for a far lesser salary. Few chances for raises or promotions as departments are small and budgets are tight. If you do get in, expect to stay around the same pay throughout the length of your career. Campus is also a bit sketchy. There are armed robberies during school hours and the...

    Advice to Management

Consider at least small-scale pay increases for your dedicated faculty or risk losing some of the brightest minds you have.

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at University of Arkansas at Little Rock full-time for more than a year

    Pros

None. I received a salary with benefits. But that's the bare minimum you should be getting from a job.

    Cons

Salary far below market value. Completely impersonal faculty relationships and very little upper administrative interest/interaction. Students are far below the quality that should be allowed in a four-year university. Grade inflation is rampant. Support staff is inept, from the HR department that has no idea what it's doing to the Facilities staff, who don't think it's their job to do ANYTHING within their job description....

I have been working at University of Arkansas at Little Rock full-time for less than a year

    Pros

My particular department is fantastic. The faculty is warm, friendly, and encouraging. I cannot speak to all other departments but I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. The students are interesting, to say the least, and I have LOVED the integrated, diverse student body. The focus on teaching is refreshing but there is still the capacity to pursue research and publication. I only give it a neutral rating because I've only...

    Cons

HR has some serious hiccups. The administration at this university leaves something to be desired, especially when you consider the relatively small size of the student body and employee rosters. However, my chair spend countless hours fighting to get things made right for me. They just have some kinks that ought to be worked out; it makes the university look a bit inept.
