There are a lot of great employees here. The benefits are good (401K contribution is high)

    Advice to Management

Pretend you are a for-profit enterprise. It will do a world of good for the organizational culture.

I worked at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences full-time

    Pros

Pay in line with similar jobs, benefits as good if not better than other companies.

    Cons

Financial issues were at the forefront of the recent layoffs. Would like to have seen 403b and 457 offered by Vanguard whose fund fees are lower than the fund fees charged by Fidelity to manage retirement accounts.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully they will get their finances in order and continue to better the health of Arkansans.

I worked at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits and salary are great. They have a great research program and specialty physicians. This hospital is well located in the city.

    Cons

This giant hospital is terribly mismanaged. Great employees there that are never recognized and lot of the managers are in their own circles but do not acknowledge the employees and/or employing unfair practices. No recourse to fix this.

    Advice to Management

The hospital is enough trouble being in debt. They may want to look at letting go of some of the managers and focus more on the employees.
