        Doesn't Recommend

I worked at University of Bristol

        Pros

--opportunity to for those who want to teach after they finish their Ph.D., --opportunity to learn how to communicate effectively; --improve problem solving skill; --opportunity to understand the human learning curve

        Cons

--Really bad IT service (mainly due to the way it is organized), which makes it very hard to deliver high quality teaching. For example the industrial software used for teaching may be broken after major update on the operating systems and no one notice and fixed them until term starts, --The workload for the role is too heavy (may depend on supervisor), and the pay doesn't justify the effort put in and the responsibility

        Advice to Management

You guys need to prepare the Hourly Paid Teacher contract on time---- in some cases the contract is received after the work is finished, which is a bit too slow. This also results the pay to get delayed.

Former Employee - Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Bristol, England

I worked at University of Bristol full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Flexible working hours. Interesting projects most of the time. Getting to work with great colleagues, and significant amount of travel.

        Cons

The management is often lacking, the IT arrangements there are a nightmare if you want to get anything done. As a research assistant it becomes painfully obvious you are expendable once the project ends.
