I worked at University of Bristol full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fantastic Academic and technical support Staff Plenty of support and help received during my time Lots of Ideas being spread, collectively the research group I was part of was very buoyant.

    Cons

Technical staff in engineering are understaffed. Not enough support given to lab technicians causing equipment to be missing.

    Advice to Management

Get more technicians down in the labs.

I have been working at University of Bristol

    Pros

Good office and lab atmosphere with plenty of other research interns doing a similar thing. Good supervision and mentoring with assistance when needed. Mostly self motivating, what you get out is what you put in.

    Cons

Getting assigned or choosing the right project to fit in with the internship timescale can be tricky.

I worked at University of Bristol for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible timetable and dates of work. Supportive and freindly supervisors. Independent work encouraged. Overall great experience and enjoyable job.

    Cons

The salary is not very high, simply the standard for university internships. Tasks not always clearly defined, so it will be required that you are proactive and set your own pace. Connections with businesses/industry will not generally happen, so it will not be as beneficial as other internships for future job opportunities.

    Advice to Management

This internships are a great opportunity for students to develop their character and become more independant. More connections with industry should be encouraged.
