I have been working at University of Calgary full-time

    Pros

large lab, many other postdocs to collaborate with

emphasized speed of project completion rather than detailed science, support staff given too much supervisory responsibility over scientific content.

    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at University of Calgary (More than a year)

    Pros

Great facilities, services and engaging social life

    Cons

frustrating income, arguably true for most post-doc positions in Canada
    no employment insurance benefits

    Advice to Management

consider increasing by 5-10k / year for post-doc fellows.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at University of Calgary as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The pay is better than other post-secondary institutions with respect to contract instructors. The campus is beautiful, especially in the summer. Good options for food and drink.

    Cons

As a sessional (contract) instructor, you have no job security. You have no benefits. You carry the weight of teaching with lip service.

    Advice to Management

Not sure what to say, as management is just following directives handed down from on high. Reflect on how dehumanizing this can be for those of us "in the trenches." Maybe stick up for employees you identify as invaluable?
