    Smaller University with less funding

    Pros

    co-works are very nice. i love the environment. i enjoy working with them. i leant a lot and they helped me a lot.

    Cons

    the salary is only the lowest level

    I have been working at University of Calgary as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    The university offers an excellent work-life balance. The people that you work around are great; always helpful if anyone on the team is in need of it. The work atmosphere is warm and people are generally happy to see me whether they are in need of IT support or not.

    Cons

    From my position as a customer-facing Tech 1 employee I did not come across any cons at this position.

    Work on scheduling conflincts, otherwise it was great.

    Great environment and colleagues, excellent place for a starting office job to improve on report writing skills.

    Cons

    Not engineering related, slow-paced in the progress of projects sometimes.

    Advice to Management

    No advice needed, everything is going smoothly.

    Supportive environment for new TAs, good money for a number of hours.

    Cons

    If you are not into teaching and mentoring people, you won't like the position.

    Pros

    Great workplace, super friendly and nice people. Good funding for research. Many Conveniences such as location, availability and support. I am overall satisfied.

    Cons

    Low ranking among north American universities and business schools. The sports facilities are not adequate. Not enough parking spot. None of the parking lots are free.

    Advice to Management

    Improve rankings and sports facilities. Infrastructure is still new but aging. Take care of the snow and more

    Very cold during winter as low as -30 to -40 deg c

    Pros

    Nice offices, good work ethics

    Cons

    Can be pretty intimidating and a few professors are a bit outdated and less helpful.

    Advice to Management

    Should care about graduate students more. Hardly have any events. Very poor companies come to the job fairs and the good ones don't recruit U of C students. Should focus on coop more.
