    Pros

Respectful management (depends on area however, I worked in a supportive function). Good benefits package. Academic atmosphere. Flexible hours.

    Cons

Unions restrict flexibility in compensation and other employment contract terms.

    Advice to Management

I enjoyed the efforts put forth to make working at the call center enjoyable.

    Pros

Good pay; good atmosphere; good people; freedom to work -- no micromanaging by managers; able to take time off when needed

    Cons

Sometimes difficult to track down managers if a problem was encountered. Spent a lot of time making phone calls to figure out who to talk to to have a task completed.

    Advice to Management

Great place to work -- but needs less "red tape" and paperwork to complete tasks.

    Pros

Very good benefits, lots of chance to further yourself.

    Cons

Bad Management, my department was a great place to work but the overall feel in the Uni is that Student are No.1 and staff are there to serve them. Staff lunch rooms have been done away with, leaving Staff now where to go but the same food court as the students. Bad for morale and and bad for employee retention.

    Advice to Management

    Bring back staff only areas.

    Pros

    multi-dimensional teams
    good people
    loads of learning opportunities

    Cons

Overall I found things very good. I worked within a medical research environment and found the politics a bit tedious but was able, for the most part, to avoid that aspect.

    Advice to Management

Always remember the little people....without them, the research wouldn't get done...sometimes, small rewards or a positive remark can go a long way.
