I worked at University of Central Florida as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I learned a lot of mathematics, while at the same time received ample teaching training.

    Cons

To succeed, be prepared to work 70 hour weeks. This includes all coursework and contract assignments.

    Advice to Management

Bring in more GTAs to allow for smaller work assignments for the graduate students. Especially during the first three years, when courses are required.

I have been working at University of Central Florida full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You work in a palace that serves to educate to the highest leaves. Things are always growing and changing as the University is so young all we can do is grow.

    Cons

Programs change with the wind and it is hard to keep up with new policy or regulations. Change is fast and slow at the same time and not always in the directions that are needed most.

    Advice to Management

Help foster your employees and make them want to work. Education is not the best paying job so it should be the most rewarding job and that comes from management valuing all employees.
