I have been working at University of Central Florida full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Constant expansion. Good partnerships with local businesses and organizations.

    Cons

Health benefits are not great. Adjunct pay is not the best. Contract offerings can be limited and can be given at the last minute.

    Advice to Management

Deans should assure their adjuncts can be confident that they will have enough courses to earn necessary income.

I have been working at University of Central Florida full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of resources and freedom, a beautiful campus, and a robust offering of non-compensation benefits.

    Cons

Bureaucracy associated with large universities is never fun. The traffic is not fun to deal with, especially in 100+ degree weather. Pay is below average, in the state and field. Administration can seem duplicitous in what they say they want the university to be and what they actually support/enforce in student facing decisions.

    Advice to Management

Ask for your faculty to be meaningfully involved in the decisions that directly effect them and students on a day to day basis, instead of pipe dreaming from another institution that has a different metropolitan composition and culture. Follow through in action with what you say you want in your vision statements and goal casting.

I worked at University of Central Florida part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    In general, a fun campus.

    Cons

It's become too big. Additionally, there are hardly any full-time teaching positions available. They seem to only hire adjuncts (Seminole and Valencia are the same way)--odd considering these are state schools, non for-profit schools. You'd think they wouldn't be so cheap.

    Advice to Management

Put more emphasis on your faculty, not overpaid administration and marketing.
