I have been working at University of Chicago full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

UChicago is a vibrant academic community populated with highly intelligent, dedicated, and motivated staff. The University offers excellent benefits including half price tuition to prestigious degree programs.

    Cons

The University comprises a vast bureaucracy plagued by outdated systems that do not integrate well. It is often difficult to know what is happening on campus or how to effectively collaborate as a result. Some departments are better funded than others, and numerous new programs and centers are founded as a result of a donor gift, but are not resourced in a sustainable manner. UChicago is a faculty run university, which means that faculty are supported in any endeavor without much strategic vetting, while staff is tasked with carrying out said endeavors, often while underresourced.

    Advice to Management

Strategic planning across admissions, communications, advancement, academics, etc would serve you well.

I have been working at University of Chicago full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I work in a very small subdivision in which there are only really 5 or so permanent full-time employees. This helps cultivate a friendly work environment, and the intellectual abilities of my colleagues are great to work with. Also, having the name on your resume looks incredibly prestigious.

    Cons

Expect way too much for one person in regards to work load. Unconventional hours and extremely high expectations due to lower number of staff members creates a lot of stress.

    Advice to Management

Rethink the way unconventional projects affect an individuals' time clock with HR
