My advice to management (for my department specifically) would be to keep up the good work and continue to improve on the practices already put in place

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Flexible schedule, as long as you work 50+ hours.

    Cons

The pay in academia is horrendous, the hours are horrendous, and the expectations and compensation are horrendous. Otherwise, its great.

    Advice to Management

Compensate the people that are providing the research that funds the university!

    Pros

Very nice campus, high level research facility, excellent working environment, very good professors, affordable and high quality health care

    Cons

Too much loads on graduate student in working in research labs to provide funds research, ends up staying more time than average to finish research

    Advice to Management

Try to attract new faculty members to become tenure track, change the policy of not accepting former students in tenure track positions

I worked at University of Cincinnati full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Collaborative work environment, strong leadership, and great opportunities for independence and autonomy.

    Cons

Low salaries and not a lot of opportunities for professional development. Budget cuts seem to be placing more value on paying high level leadership than investments in student success and staff/faculty development.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend integrating professional development activities into the culture of the university especially for junior faculty and staff. Staff are well trained and highly educated but lack mobility because they are often undervalued and not tapped to serve on high level committees.
