    Positive Outlook

I have been working at University of Colorado full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

University of Colorado Boulder is a fine place to work and Boulder is a great city to live in. Although Colorado provides almost no state funding to its "public" universities, they thrive.

    Cons

Everyone here has a vision, and sometimes it's difficult to resolve conflicts among staff. Boulder is like the Bay Area, but with mountains, and with costs of living only about half the Bay Area....

I have been working at University of Colorado full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

University works on some really cool projects, and I'm gaining great experience. Boulder is also beautiful and public transportation makes it really easy to get to and from work without needing to drive my car.

    Cons

Pay, as with any university, is not great compared to industry. I'm making almost 60k a year though, which is not bad for an engineer straight out of school.

    Pros

Great place to work, good city.

Too expensive in Boulder to live in the city in which you work. Very few people live in Boulder and work at CU.

    Pros

Great workplace atmosphere and supportive supervisors.

I have been working at University of Colorado full-time for less than a year

    Pros

High degree of freedom in doing your job. Laid-back research environment. Brilliant professors/graduate students to work with. Boulder, CO itself is the best incentive.

    Cons

Very bureaucratic as a public research university; things move slowly especially when university administration is involved. Quite political among professors, at least in the department that I work for. Lack sense of teamwork. Tight budgets and low pay as a result. House renting in Boulder is skyrocketing thanks to Google.
