I have been working at University of Connecticut part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Graduate Assistants have good employment standards and better healthcare, and are protected by their recently formed union, and the campus is a pretty place to work.

    Cons

The university management still takes a top-down approach and needs to consult stakeholders more effectively before making decisions.

    Advice to Management

Consult all stakeholders before making decisions and you will make more effective decisions.

I have been working at University of Connecticut full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Awesome benefits, union helps you get regular raises , opportunity for growth if you are a hard worker and educated.

    Cons

Management does not appreciate loyal hard workers. Employees who care about their job are hard to come by, a little words of encouragement and appreciation will be taken a lot further than you ever could imagine .

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to employees who are dedicated and professional and thank them every once in a while. It will go a long way!

I have been working at University of Connecticut part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working at the University of Connecticut has better and absolute Joy. The office environment is face paced, even though there are multiple areas of specialty, we all function as a well oiled team.

    Cons

The only thing I can think of as a consequence is the location and commute. I am traveling from the Providence area daily. So I would definitely recommend moving closers to campus if you plan to work on the Storrs Campus.
