  2. "Work Doesn't Distract from Research"

Former Contractor - Graduate Teaching Assistant

I worked at University of Delaware for more than a year

    Pros

Dependant on who you work with, grading responsibilities can be very low, allowing you to focus on your own coursework and research. A vast majority of the supervisors are extremely helpful and willing to work with you to alleviate any issues you may be having.

    Cons

Work load is dependant on which course/supervisor you end up teaching and grading for. Some are extremely hands on and help alleviate the workload, while others may try to stay as hands off as possible. They are in the process of normalizing the TA experience into a well oiled machine.

I have been working at University of Delaware for more than a year

    Pros

You work flexible hours. You improve your own skills when teaching.

    Cons

Some weeks have more work than others. Adding research on top is not enough for a salary.

    Advice to Management

Graduate students should receive higher wages for the actual amount of hours worked.
