I have been working at University of Hawaii at Manoa full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You'll meet some great people, all the staff is generally friendly. Very casual atmosphere, flexible hours and a good work/life balance. Great retirement benefits.

    Cons

Wading through all the red tape can be soul crushing, especially for fresh-out-of-college graduates who are ready to make things happen only to realize it takes more than a year to get anything of importance changed. New regulations for e-documents were passed more than a year ago, yet everything remains hard-copy. Policy prohibits double occupancy in one position, so receiving training from your predecessor is... nearly impossible.

    Advice to Management

Compensation should be based on the quality of work rather than how long an individual has been with the company.
