I have been working at University of Illinois at Chicago part-time

    Pros

Easily accessible funding opportunity while you earn your degree, opportunities to gain classroom experience if you're interested in the academic job market, most hours are flexible and TAs are often compensated for more hours than they actually work in the classroom.

    Cons

experiences vary significantly by department. Some departments have consistent employment opportunities every semester and programs to prepare graduate students for their first experiences in front of a classroom. Other departments throw graduate students into the deep end with little preparation, which leads to a negative experience for both the TAs and the undergraduate students enrolled in their course.
