    Pros

    It is a great learning environment for working at a fast pace. Strong team building within the department which is helpful. Willing to be flexible with scheduling.

    Cons

    Growth within department is discretionary; not guaranteed. Not all things are communicated about future plans which is unfair when looking to growth into a permanent position.

    Advice to Management

    Better communication.

    Pros

    Paid time off and sick leave are both very generous. Insurance coverage can be excellent. Academic employees tend to have fairly flexible schedules.

    Cons

    You pay dearly for have Ign excellent health insurance coverage. Deans and department heads tend to be academics with little skill and no interest in running third college/department.

    Advice to Management

    Deans and department heads should not be selected simply because it's a promotion. A brilliant professor may not make a good head/dean.

    Your existing salary is supplemented tremendously by tuition and fee waivers, which can save you thousands of dollars depending on your program.

    Cons

    Illinois' budget problems can create some instability in regards to departmental funding and program continuity

    Devote significant funds to modernizing office space and resources.

    Pros

    Great way to gain experience, very flexible work. Ok pay. Diverse work environment. HR is very helpful. My bosses are great.. One has a lot of bosses so many personalities

    Cons

    State is in debt, so grants are not funded so there's high turnover. HR can be a tad slow in processing forms..once hired the process can take a while

    It is a good place to work, good benefits, and flexibility. You can go to school for free and get your bachelor degree through UIC.

    Cons

    Required to do more and not get paid the amount you deserve.

    New office, new equiptment, nice boss

    Cons

    State employees, "seat warmers" people that should have retired years ago. Coworkers lacking basic skills such as email attachments.

    Advice to Management

    Stop hiring people who are suppose to innovate, while keeping old guard employees who don't want anything to change.
