I worked at University of Illinois at Chicago

    Pros

Generous amount of paid time off. Job security. Free Professional development workshops. Free tuition for full time employees.

    Cons

Old ways of doing stuff. Folks in general tend to not help others; they do their job and their job only (Stereotypical state employee mindset). Low pay.

    Advice to Management

Adopt some of the values in today’s corporate culture to make a more effective up to date work environment: allow work from home options.... more leadership training for upper management to better learn how to properly manage teams.....

I have been working at University of Illinois at Chicago part-time

    Pros

Meaningful work for a great advisor,

    Cons

Low pay. UIC pay would not support my own school attendance plus childcare necessary to do my work. Even with tuition waiver, semester fees are high.

    Cons

Low low pay too much Civil Service Mentality. Too many here looking for retirement. Students are an Obstacle. Shake Up U of Illinois Management away from Bureaucracy. Loosing ground on UC Berkeley Stanford or Carnegie Mellon. Big Shakeup Needed Now.

    Advice to Management

Sitting pretty in comfy jobs. School suffers. It has become a Political Tool.
