I worked at University of Kentucky full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great health insurance, 403b plan with 5% employee and 10% employer contribution, great tuition benefit, lots of vacation time. There are a lot of very dedicated employees.

    Cons

Once you are in a position and you do it well, it is really hard to move up. Lots of politics.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees, they have good ideas. Stop having committees for everything. Just make a decision.

I have been working at University of Kentucky (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work - great city and university.

    Cons

Sometimes you are overworked - given tasks that other departments should take initiative on and not compensated for the work/effort. Student & Academic Life restructure has put many tenured/valued employees out of a job or having to reapply for their same job at a lower salary.

I have been working at University of Kentucky part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The best reason to work here is the region that you are located and the collaborations that take place on campus.

    Cons

The administrative part of UK is lacking, it is confusing and has many layers that make it difficult to navigate sometimes.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be a reorganization of the administrative structure at UK. There are simply too many people with overlapping duties.

More and more getting too many nurses with little experience.

    Advice to Management

    Orient new nurses longer.
