    Positive Outlook

I have been working at University of Louisville Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great place to obtain a variety of experience. Plenty of opportunity to pick up additional shifts if needed. No mandatory overtime.

    Cons

At times worked short staffed and can tell it is taking a toll on employees. Some staff have issues with attitude.

    Advice to Management

Improve staffing and correct staff that displays poor attitude. Overall a great place to work.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at University of Louisville Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good insurance, friendly staff and mid managers. Better pay than you would find in other jobs that are not hospital related. The training there was top drawer

    Cons

The upper management, especially in human resources, seemed to take great delight in getting rid of employees based on clocking in within your time window or other minor violations of HR handbook

    Advice to Management

Be more flexible on clocking-in, sick leave, training opportunities outside of the organization, work at making UofL a hospital with a good reputation. The staff is great. Reward them.

I worked at University of Louisville Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people I worked with were absolutely amazing. All of them were very welcoming and kind-hearted. The managers had a pretty decent "open door" policy and wanted to know what you thought.

    Cons

The workload wasn't realistic, especially for someone who was new. I was by myself some nights and very rarely was able to leave at the end of my shift because of how easy it was to get behind. There were also many nights that I wouldn't get a lunch on a 12 hour shift because the nurses were all so busy and no one else knew how to do my job. If you like a fast paced atmosphere you would be a good fit for the job.

I worked at University of Louisville Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great teamwork, availability to contact MD. quickly .

    Cons

Pts being placed on units not best for pts, then having to transfer pt on correct unit.

    Advice to Management

Unable to give advice, there have been many changes since the merger.

I worked at University of Louisville Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You build a great community with your coworkers, you trust them, and you get excellent experiences that you can only get at a Level I Trauma Center.

    Cons

Staffing. It can be atrocious and borderline unsafe. 1:3 nurse:patient in a Level I Trauma Center ICU is dangerous. No clerks and barely any CNAs hired for night shift, plus they won't ACLS certify you until you've been there 6 months. KentuckyOne has really hurt UofL.

    Advice to Management

Please, please, please hire more staff. I understand it's incredibly difficult since the hospital now has the reputation as not a great place to work, but do whatever is needed to get more staff. It used to be a great hospital. It is only by luck that no serious adverse effects have happened due to staffing levels.
