    I have been working at University of Maryland (More than a year)

    Pros

    Generally good people, great benefits and great campus

    Cons

    The University is Ok, but some of the divisions are horrible like Residential and Facility Management. Management is very bad and are absent most days. Don't have a clue of how the work gets done

    Advice to Management

    Obtain a better management team, more diverse with progressive mindset. Some members of Management needs to be change

    quiet, did homework all shift, watched netflix, easy application, fit into schedule

    Cons

    horrible coworkers, horrible manager, dirty building, roaches, food, weird smells, not secure

    Pros

    Benefits package is competitive.
    Option to enroll in labor union is great! They will help when dealing with politics in the office.

    Cons

    Very decentralized at the graduate level.
    Antiquated systems for advising students...they only used paper forms.
    High turnover in many departments in the engineering school.

    fun working in higher ed, students are good, supervisors are dedicated

    Cons

    exploitation of work force by the higher ed system, low pay and low benefits and all the money goes towards tenure staff

    Free meals with the team
    Some of the staff was great to work with
    Freedom to complete project independently

    Cons

    Little guidance at points
    Very inappropriate remarks towards myself and other staff members
    Can be disorganized and chaotic

    Treat people fairly based on their performance and effort

    I worked at University of Maryland as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    They provide software tools that are necessary for your work. They have long list of tools that can be used for free by the faculty.

    Cons

    Low pay. Dont expect to get much from the school. However, expect to work long hours.

    Advice to Management

    Wish there are more opportunities for current students. The school should try creating more jobs for students to help students find jobs. (Currently no effort...)
