    Pros

Good environment, very collaborative, great professors. Huge range of research happening here.

    Cons

Campus is in the middle of nowhere, the undergraduates are terribly obnoxious.

    Advice to Management

Stop doing construction on the entire campus at once please.

I worked at University of Massachusetts full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice work environment. Pretty camps. Nice students.

    Cons

Little opportunity for advancement of professionals. Upper "management" all have PhD's. For example a past President of the university system had a PhD in Physics. Studying physics has little to do with managing an organization, yet they promote their own and PhD's ultimately only will answer to other people with PhD's as ultimately they are classist.

    Advice to Management

Do not make basic requirement for upper level management a PhD. Having studies a completely unrelated field with the depth needed for a PhD has nothing to do with the duties of the job. It only serves to exclude a whole class of people (i.e. "the 99%" who do not have PhD's).

I worked at University of Massachusetts (Less than a year)

    Pros

Solid Pay, Great Coworkers, Other than this I just don't have that many good things about cvs care mart or retail in general

    Cons

Expect to work a lot of long hours. Corporate doesn't give stores enough hour to run on; more work and less time to get tasks done.

    Advice to Management

There not much to say, from my experience retail employees are expendable. From self checkout registers to laying off to firing long term employees and hiring new ones at Minimum wage.

    Pros

Great people to work with. Always new things to learn. Encouraged to come up with new ideas and thought leadership

    Cons

Limited promotion opportunities; sometimes the students can be tough to deal with; in a college town with limited shopping areas around

    Pros

Lots of people from all over the world. Great place to work with students and also I enjoyed to work with my supervisor.

    Cons

There is not a lot of work opportunities around the city. Most people who live here work for the school.

I worked at University of Massachusetts part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The job was okay, the supervisors were generally friendly and willing to help. They were great at accommodating my student schedule and allowed me to change shifts each semester.

    Cons

The managers at the Blue Wall ("head honchos") were rude and very demanding to student staff. Many full time employees were repeatedly laid off when classes were out of session, leading to poor morale. The pay was atrocious.

    Advice to Management

Stop laying off employees and take a close look at your Blue Wall managers. Pay students at least a little bit better... many of us work very hard and $10 (minimum wage) is a pittance!
