I worked at University of Memphis part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The orientation and training required before starting provide essential skills for anyone interested in teaching. This experience taught me many skills such as overcoming barriers in communication, time management, leadership and delegation, and collaborating with professors and colleagues.
As an hidden bonus, teaching others prepared me for professional entrance exams which I aced!

    Cons

Due to limited positions and working around class schedules there were many instances that the tutors were overwhelmed with students needing help. This was particularly true towards the end of the semester.

    Advice to Management

Consider hiring additional tutors near the end of the semester in order to meet the increasing amount of students.
