    Positive Outlook

I have been working at University of Miami Hospital full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Patient load isn't astronomical. Managers seem very willing to listen. Easy to be considered to train for a supervisor position.

    Cons

People can be mean and rude. While the hospital's in South FL, there is absolutely no southern hospitality.

I have been working at University of Miami Hospital part-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

They offer good training. The pay is comparable to the Miami area. It is a great place to learn and grow if you are willing to work hard. Management does address concerns. The organization supports their nurses and listens to both the patient and the nurse if a situation were to arise. That to me is Gold.

    Cons

Frequent changes in management roles and policy that are not always beneficial. The need for more transparency when it comes to regulations on working hours for staff.

I worked at University of Miami Hospital full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great staff and coworkers. Good and positive environment

    Cons

High productivity demands with minimal documentation time. Overworked and underpaid. Have to pay for parking, 15 minute walk to hospital from parking garage, or 15-20 minute shuttle that never runs on time. Poor work/life balance.

I worked at University of Miami Hospital full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Not one thing at alll

    Cons

Terrible pay with no standardized merit structure, meaning there is no guarantee you will get a merit increase the following year. Culture is based on old relationships rather than working together to create efficiencies, If you are new you are not welcomed. Departments won't communicate with each other because of issues with personal relationships. Some employees have been there for > 20 years, still want to do the same thing, and think that every new employee on the team is a threat to them.

I worked at University of Miami Hospital full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Union, Benefits, Employee Discounts, Pay

    Cons

There is no job security and if you work well, you're given more work; no raise. To work here, you must be able to say "NO, that's NOT my job", "No, that is NOT my role" and "I'll go speak with HR and my Union Rep" -- Management from all departments meet every morning and it's basic "employee control" protocols and updates. There is no clear direction from any executive; just a lot of people with big titles, little brains.
