I worked at University of Miami full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coral Gables campus is pretty. Many of the students are a pleasure to work with. Health insurance. Depending on your job, you don't have to work late regularly which is a positive since you don't get paid well.

    Cons

    Salary. Limited upward mobility. Politics.

I worked at University of Miami (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Tuition remission, great insurance, great retirement benefits

    Cons

Low salary, well below market rates for similar roles...even in higher education. Restrictions in place to reduce internal mobility -- highly discouraging when you're under poor management.

    Advice to Management

Reallocate your budgets to retain valuable staff. Turnover is a real time suck, and unfortunate to lose so many good hearted and well intentioned people over a few thousand a year.
