I have been working at University of Minnesota part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoy the opportunity to absorb lots of miscellaneous information through seminars and extracurricular activities which allows me to develop myself according to the priorities I set.

    Cons

University work often suffers from lack of structure and clearly defined goals. Or goals can be defined well but with no clear method on how to achieve them. I would also encourage students to work towards their own professional development as professors are sometimes lacking in support for this area.

    Advice to Management

Mental and physical health are important but often overlooked. I would encourage those higher up to pay attention to and work with grad students in these areas. At the very top these issues are managed but the message falls down as it gets to the student workers themselves.
