I worked at University of Missouri part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed my employment as a site assistant at MU Adventure Club. As site assistants we assisted with morning and afternoon programming including games, snack, outdoor activities, gym activities, and educational activities. It was also fun meeting fellow MU students during my time there; all our staff still remain friends with one another. The staff were always friendly and helpful; we ran our afternoon program efficiently. MU Adventure Club also provided many opportunities for training including CPR and First Aid Training, Food Safety (i.e. food allergies and medications), also it was fun to get to know all the kids at the elementary school I worked at!

    Cons

There are specific student to teacher ratios and you had to be very aware at all times while taking the students outside or to the gym to keep headcounts and monitor safety as necessary. The ratios were 12:1 so it was certainly manageable and I had other site assistants helping monitor each rotation we had for our group of students.

    Advice to Management

Continue providing adequate training and support for all site assistants and staff. Most site assistants were MU Education majors which helped lead to future jobs as teachers.

I worked at University of Missouri part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

VERY friendly staff. My coworkers made me feel at home at Special Collections. The jobs you do there differ greatly and sometimes present challenging opportunities to learn new things. And they truly have amazing collections that anyone would find something of a particular interest!

    Cons

Might be extremely quiet and then the day might go very slow. Also, again, assignments differ greatly, so you might end up helping taping boxes all day long, or assisting with dumping water from the air conditioning system in the toilet.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up great work!
