I have been working at University of Missouri full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Steady job, good benefit program, constant change of students, coaching and mentoring students as they go off to the wider world.

    Cons

Politics and typical red tape bureaucracy. Lack of communication. Leadership rarely if ever listens to those on the 'front lines' of jobs.

    Advice to Management

Take time to get to know your employees and build dialogues. A team in sync working together knowing the goals is far more effective.

    Pros

    Work/life balance
    Bosses are nice and understanding
Get help where you need it
    Job security
Great, cheap health and dental benefits

    Cons

Promised growth may take many years
    Political environment
Raises are across the board and you have to move positions to make money (but it is possible)

    Advice to Management

Change the merit increases strategy and make it to where staff salaries cannot be looked up by everyone. It puts management in a poor negotiating stance with worthy employees.
