really getting to know your co workers
vacation and sick time builds very quickly.

    Cons

I worked at University of Missouri part-time

    Pros

Individual Departments and Sub-Departments can feel like families with a lot of potential for interdisciplinary collaboration.

    Cons

Greater University culture and atmosphere was quite toxic: racism, ethnocentrism, sexism, ableism, religious persecution, high crime rate (I received, on average, 1 internal campus police report of rape per week - some of which were reported happening within the locked dorms, also weekly mugging and assault reports on campus - usually at night, but not always), one of the student housing buildings (apartments, not dorm) actually collapsed and killed someone, incredibly high murder rate per capita in Columbia area, a lot of false "nationalist and patriot" cultural propaganda mixed with a false sense of school-identity superiority and inflated entitlement, management cares more about making money (despite being a public university) than protecting or providing quality educational environment to the students (at all levels of education)..... note: these are my personal perspective and observations.

    Advice to Management

The state should consider complete and total overhaul of the entire management system for the entire network of universities - preferably using a model which utilizes both the university's core values AND scientific self-updating from actual measured data to make decisions and judge progress.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at University of Missouri full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Steady job, good benefit program, constant change of students, coaching and mentoring students as they go off to the wider world.

    Cons

Politics and typical red tape bureaucracy. Lack of communication. Leadership rarely if ever listens to those on the 'front lines' of jobs.

    Advice to Management

Take time to get to know your employees and build dialogues. A team in sync working together knowing the goals is far more effective.
