I have been working at University of Missouri full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefits are excellent, there are ample training opportunities, and the tuition assistance is good as well.

    Cons

The worst part is the bureaucracy. Due to this, getting things done can take longer than it really should, and there are many employees no longer doing anything, and simply collecting a pay check.

    Advice to Management

Foster an environment where doing your job is more rewarding than being employed for the longest amount of time.

  3. "Flexibility but limited benefits"

    Pros

Lots of flexibility in use of time. Decent amount of autonomy over course design and implementation.

    Cons

Little benefits offered to graduate students. Frequently a fight to maintain benefits for the graduate students. Lots of turn-over in the past couple of years.

I have been working at University of Missouri full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The health care insurance that uses the university health care system is very comprehensive in its coverage and there are many specialists available.

    Cons

Due to declining enrollment and budget cuts, the faculty are having to take on larger class sizes and staff is worried about layoffs. Thus the atmosphere is somewhat stressful. The university recently increased the cost of health insurance for future retirees.

    Advice to Management

Work harder to develop career paths for staff positions.
