I worked at University of New Haven full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great atmosphere, little regulation, generous benefits, freedom.

    Cons

Budgetary concerns, overexpansion can lead to uneasy feeling.

    Advice to Management

There is a lot of (very) dead wood in many areas, which chafes good employees who work hard.

I have been working at University of New Haven part-time

    Pros

Great experience applicable toward my field of study and appropriate for degree level. People in my department were extremely appreciative of my contribution and treated me like a true colleague.

    Cons

Turnover is high. Collaboration between the different colleges within the university could be greatly improved, especially considering the small and manageable size.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your teams and the people connecting with the students. Also, listen to the students. There was a fantastic event to address Diversity and Inclusion that happened a few months ago and we have yet to see results, action.

I worked at University of New Haven full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great retirement contribution
    Friendly peer group
    A lot of travel
    Event planning experience

    Cons

Everything else. Management is so poor, there's no regard for employee's work-life balance, and pay is minimal. High expectations with little to no training. Managers try to manipulate employees against each other, and sometimes they succeed. High turn-out rate, people only stay for a few months, maybe a year. Don't work here.

    Advice to Management

    N/A

I worked at University of New Haven part-time

    Pros

The size of the campus is small, but has such a nice culture.
The events never get out of control, the students are well-behaved in comparison to other schools Homecoming and other big events.
There is a lot of support throughout the campus to everyone, and if not they are actively working to build that bridge

    Cons

Some supervisors can work to be more connected to the community

    Advice to Management

more open dialogue and listening to the campus

    Pros

Flexible hours and short shift are great when you're a full-time student and can't dedicate a full 8-hour shift in one day, CPR certified for free, received a raise after working for one semester.

    Cons

Extreme lack of communication during my time there, employees would very often drop their shifts, but then complain if someone else would drop their shifts. When I had my first round interview with students that worked there as the interviewers, I was told that working at ChargerRec was like a big family. To me it did not feel that way, it seemed like employees would often gossip about one another.
