    Pros

I spent my undergradute studies at the university of Nottingham and now I am finishing my PhD project in the department of electrical and electronic engineering. The atmosphere of the university is very multicultural and the level of teaching and support is good. The campus is also very beatiful.

    Cons

support is only given for 3 years of your PhD study. therefore the write-up period will be finantially challenging.

I worked at University of Nottingham part-time

    Pros

Helped to boost my CV, gave me an appreciation for how fun and sometimes dull tech support can be, and gave me a springboard into a new career.

    Cons

Sometimes sitting around for hours at the Smart Bar can get tedious, but there's not much anyone can do about this.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up! This is a good opportunity for students and has provided me with a good springboard. Maybe not take on as many Tutors, as there were too many.

I have been working at University of Nottingham full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Overall good work environment and emphasis on promoting staff to attend training in areas of interest to the department and their own personal interests
    - Strong management in my current position and most of my previous positions
    - Loads of temporary positions through unitemps, which is perfect if that is what you are looking for
Overall I have really enjoyed working for University of Nottingham and would recommend it to others!

    Cons

I would consider none of these major issues and only minimally effect my day-to-day work, but I thought they were worth mentioning for managerial staff to take note of:
    - At times a lack of clarity, direction and training regarding project transform - however they are working to improve this with roll out of training
    - A small minority of research staff can lack any respect for administrative staff - although vast majority of very pleasing to work with
    - HR and payroll can be difficult to work with when trying to process payments for workers.
    - In my department, there has been a lack of consistency to how different courses have been administrated - however this is and will continue to improve with project transform!
    - Currently no permanent posts for admin staff

    Pros

The University of Nottingham has some excellent facilities, and truly fantastic research groups. Everything from the new libraries to the coffee shops looks good and is great to be around. Excellent transport links to most campuses and a lot of great accommodation around

    Cons

The current student services system is incredibly slow, taking a very long time to get any type of request processed.
If you don't like hills you might not like the University Park campus

    Advice to Management

Speed up student services so that important things don't take forever. Think requests for study interruption taking five months; almost as long as the interruption itself!

I worked at University of Nottingham full-time

    Pros

Flexible hours. Nice atmosphere at work. I knew place I worked as I did my PhD in the same lab.

    Cons

I was not paid on time. Problems with pay-slips, as they are unclear. I had no contract, got only email, when I asked for contract was told I was given email conformation of job offer.
