    Pros

Work-life balance, relative job security, youthful environment, tolerant/inclusive, benefits, leave accrual, military friendly.

    Cons

Lower pay than private sector, pace of change is very slow, HR processes incredibly slow, hard to purge toxic employees

    Advice to Management

In-spite of HR practices for external hiring considerations, prepare subordinates for leadership positions.

I have been working at University of Oregon part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - My boss works around my class schedule, allowing me time to study and live my life beyond the classroom and office.
    - The staff is incredibly friendly and invested in the futures of their employees.
    - Guaranteed to have weekends off as well as any holiday observed by the University of Oregon.

    Cons

    - May require working during periods of time where students are not present on campus, including summer, winter, and fall

    Advice to Management

    - Maintain the constructive environment you currently have.
    - Be diligent with providing performance reviews to student employees at the end of every term.

I have been working at University of Oregon part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Extremely flexible, especially with your class schedule. Great job for any student to have while in college, especially if you start early and have the opportunity to fill a management position.

    Cons

Not great pay. Students get paid once a month and make minimum wage. Hard to feel valued because there are so many other employees.

    Advice to Management

Offer more incentives for student employees to increase performance. Plenty of people do not work hard because there are little to no incentives.

I have been working at University of Oregon part-time

    Pros

Great place for students because it's right on campus and has many internship opportunities. The staff is friendly and often are UO alumni themselves.

    Cons

I feel like a lot of the staff are often condescending to me because I am a student worker, although I perform many of the same tasks they do.

I have been working at University of Oregon full-time

    Pros

Ideal environment to devote time to studio/research

    Cons

Isolated. Non-diverse student population. University over-emphasis and over-investment on athletic and science eclipsing potentials of Humanities and Arts. Hard to imagine operationalizing $500M in a responsible way.

    Advice to Management

I worked at University of Oregon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Quite
    Hard to get fired

    Cons

    Deans & Staff are rude
    Parking
    Low pay
    No work or good work
Expectations are too high - they really think there is work to do but the work they give is high school level so you finish quick.
The school resembles a failing mall, there are people at their positions but no traffic

    Advice to Management

If you get hired, move to another department when a position you like opens up.

I have been working at University of Oregon part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's challenging, but fun work. Also, it's not bleeding edge, but relatively new technologies are being used. Coworkers are very friendly and it's a very relaxed office.

    Cons

    Bland office and parking sucks.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.
