    Pros

Parent company Apollo group provides numerous opportunities in an array of business fields. University of Phoenix provides training and mentoring for employees seeking advancement and growth in management.

    Cons

Changes in the industry have forced recent downsizing. The university now requires Bachelors degrees for a number of positions. Still, from a business standpoint this can be seen as a positive as well.

    Pros

University of Phoenix is a great school. I have attended several other schools including a traditional state University and the University of Phoenix has the best customer service hands down. They also have some of the best resources available for students to earn their college degree. They also have a great program where students can do real time research on finding employment and understanding the skills to be successful.

    Cons

The management is poor there. It really starts with the CEO who has been in that position now for about 5 years. The University of Phoenix was the biggest and best and thanks to the leadership has now shrunk to a very much smaller college. This is due to many reasons but the most obvious is management who have been running a failing model and haven't come to grips that they will need someone to take their place.

    Super Faculty Support!

Nov 21, 2015 - Faculty Associate in Nashville, TN

    Pros

The University of Phoenix provides its faculty with extensive training and faculty development opportunities both on-ground and online, and often pays faculty for the times spent in these meetings. Academic freedom is provided while at the same time curricular suggestions and templates are available for use. Everyone from the Dean of the national college to the local Director of Academic Affairs to the Lead Faculty Area Chairs are helpful and supportive.

    Cons

Depending on location and/or discipline, course opportunities are limited to approximately four per year.

    Online Adjunct

    Pros

I enjoy working with University of Phoenix as it allows me to work from home. I was able to begin teaching through UOP when I was laid off in 2009 from my academic publishing job. In the classroom at least online, they allow you to do a lot with your syllabus now and adding different materials. This allows for you as an instructor to bring in current news into your classroom. It helps keep the discussion relevant and interesting with your students. I also believe at some point all online faculty will have a better relationship with any ground campuses that are nearby. I believe this is great for morale as well as able to have fellow colleagues that are close.

    Cons

I believe the slowness in bringing things down to the associates level. I feel that we are the last to get things. We are still waiting to have the change over from the 9 weeks to the 5 weeks. I hope the change is coming soon. Also I think they also should have more online adjuncts who are working full time. I think this is a good idea as some of us enjoy teaching and want to do it full time. When positions open, we should be the first people that are looked at for these positions and should not have to go through a special process. I believe these are some things that are being addressed by the new president. I hope change is coming soon so that more online adjuncts are kept around.

    Pros

The best organization I have ever worked for, they really cared about the people who they employed, they also had the best training in sales and marketing that I have ever seen any company to have. The people there were very professional and caring and the job opportunities were endless. The education was outstanding and I could only hope to work for another organization such as the University of Phoenix.

    Cons

After the Founder died the University begin to fall apart and now it has a lot of political battles in which I think that it can overcome but does not want to no longer fight. The University of Phoenix has touched so many lives both academically and professionally and I hate to see such a great educational institution fade away. It learning model has been revolutionary in touching the lives of every day working adults and its legacy shall live on.

Enjoyed my time at University of Phoenix

    Pros

Great training and wonderful people to work with. University of Phoenix promotes team work offering many different events through out the year to break up your work day. This company believes in giving back to the community, they also offer very good benefits.

    Cons

For this position you must enjoy phone work. This was difficult for me as I would start at 7 am in the morning and although I would consider myself a happy morning person, that did not necessarily cross over into wanting to talk on the phone that early. This company is also continually changing, so if you can't handle change you may want to look else where for employment.

    Times are changing

Jun 30, 2015 - Enrollment Representative in Phoenix, AZ

    Pros

University of Phoenix has changed a lot since I first started working there. The benefits of working there include great salaries, fun working environment and great benefits (including tuition benefits). I worked at multiple locations at University of Phoenix and really enjoyed the people I worked with for the most part.

    Cons

In the most recent years, the university has changed. With the decrease in performance over the past few years, there are more and more layoffs that happen. The university is really shifting its focus to attracting a new type of student which is great, but also it impacts many employees because there is not as much demand. There is constant fear of layoffs which is not a fun environment to work in.

    Pros

The University of Phoenix offers online and onsite adjunct teaching opportunities in graduate and undergraduate courses. It is a good way to supplement one's income and work in a professional environment with professional development opportunities.

    Cons

It may not be steady work, since hiring depends on student enrollment in classes that fall within one's expertise. First-time instructors may not always receive an thorough orientation.
