I would not recommend working here

    Pros

Decent pay compared to other work places. Good cultural diversity and meet ups to engage. Many opportunities to learn new skills but not enough opportunities to advance. Good people at heart for most parts, across different levels. The leadership supports and values work life balance. Never asked to work overtime. Never reprimanded for leaving work. But the work for 40 hours each week, every week, all year round is non stop, never any down time.

    Cons

This company never stops creating random, sudden and pretty major changes at the workplace. You are constantly trying to adapt to new policies and systems, it is EXHAUSTING!! Under the new policy, now employees will be micromanaged to the T, worse than a call center! There is zero downtime in this role, 360 days of the year, it is just GO, GO, GO for 40 hours a week, all 12 months of the year, There is NEVER any downtime in this role. No real growth opportunities here. Many co-workers left saying, they will have no real way to grow here partly because shrinking company and its forever policy changes and partly because of very high tenure from past employees when the company was thriving. You are better off working as an Uber driver or pizza delivery boy, at least you can play music in the car while delivering and get tips for your work! The turn over rate with new comers is very very high at this place. Even the tenured employees are always complaining. They are not happy working, they are just getting paid a ransom due to their tenure which is likely keeping them here.

Depends on where you work in the University

Oct 23, 2015 - Enrollment Representative in Phoenix, AZ

    Pros

Everything is super fair, to the point where people start to get annoyed at the rules promoting fair treatment. Downtime and good work/life balance also.

    Cons

Some departments are really horrible to work in while others are amazing. It really depends on if your director is more worried about his numbers or his employees.

Working in student services at UOPX

    Pros

Competitive pay for what the job entails. Overtime occasionally offered but we were not expected to work it if we didn't want to. Work life balance is important and it was stressed that we do not work more than 40 hours a week. Typically, job expectation were known. Job is easy to learn.

    Cons

No room for growth. Pay increases not based on merit. Too much micromanaging. The company decides when each individual can take a lunch or break.

    Senior Enrollment Advisor

Aug 18, 2014 - Senior Enrollment Advisor in Houston, TX

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Each day you get to help students achieve their academic goals. The majority of the students are working adults, parents and non-traditional college aged so they tend to be leery about being in college. As an enrollment advisor you get to help them navigate the enrollment process and encourage them as they transition into college. It can be a rewarding experience.

    Cons

Where do I begin? The University struggles to put their employees over the stockholder interest. There is no work life balance because you have unusual schedules like Mon-Fri 11-8 or you work Saturdays. You have to earn sick time. Let's say you go out on sick leave to have a baby and exhaust your sick time. You have to earn sick hours with each pay period. I had never heard of such. As an enrollment advisor, you do a lot of cold calling and sometimes yo feel like you work at a call center. The pay is not comparable to the job and degree requirements. And the company is obsessed with change. Every 3-6 months there is some major change that takes place which shakes the foundation of the company's core.

    Pros

Fun work environment and noble work. Good feeling to help students get back on track and especially rewarding to see them at graduation. Priceless feeling!

    Cons

Long hours and lack of work/life balance. Preassure for constant goals... Not always compensated for work put in, but if you have high numbers, potential to make very good salary. Plus, overtime pd even though positions are salary
