    Pros

    Great global opportunities to work with new innovations

    Cons

    Decision makers have no knowledge of real world innovation and how real world works. Lead Professors only academic and live to keep their jobs, not to help getting innovations on market. No knowledge of financial costs or real world expenses. They also take advantage of emerging market governments contracting with them to aid commercialization, when only teaching them academia outside of classroom giving them opportunities to travel all over the world at other country's expense but never getting products on market. They overkill analysis, as they get paid for paper work. So country is charged thousands for analysis, when 5 min of common sense for free, was all that was necessary. They also use students (for cheap student pricing) instead of experienced graduates of their own program who could really help companies, because they want to keep money for their own needs more than help emerging country.

    POOR LEADERSHIP. POOR MISSION AND GOALS. TALKING THE TALK BUT CAN"T AND DON"T WANT TO WALK THE MILE TO DO IT.

    Advice to Management

    Clean out old Fellows who just write policy....and get true people knowledgeable in 2010 innovation in their. Get rid of politics. Sell value of your Graduates...not your soul for international travel.

    Pros

    If you need time off for family or personal matters, management is flexible.

    Cons

    1) Workload is extremely high and one person is expected to do atleast three people's job including MAJOR enterprise level projects . Three for the price of one.
    2) Almost not recogniztion and appreciation for job well done.
    3) Management is disrespectful, condescending, distrustful, bureacratic and completely out of touch with on the ground realities.
    4) Work is just offloaded and expected to be completed on time without any support or understanding.
    5) Benefit package is very meciore with only ONE benefit plan that everyone is expected to sign up.
    6) Not much much job security, just went through a round of layoffs sufferinng from worst budget crunch in decades.
    7) Constant monitoring of everything you do.

    Advice to Management

    When you expect your employees to lead major projects and support critical systems also support them with respect and trust. Do not mistreat them.

    Pros

    benefits are great, but be sure to sign up for everything when you start work. if you need to change your coverage, you can be subjected to "eligible for benefit" paperwork and this might result in you not being approved. if you start with everything-you are grandfathered in.

    Cons

    upper management mostly incompetent and they lead with complete hands off approach-limiting feedback and information to managers, who are appointed due to acceptance of lower salary and very much a case of "teach to the test" do not have any original ideas-everything has already been documented for you to follow the rules-do not color outside the box.

    Advice to Management

    trust the intelligence of your employee. why did you hire them if you don't believe they are competent?

    Pros

    Health benefit plan
    Retirement plan
    Vacation & sick leave

    Cons

    Inconsistency in managing
    Slow
    Too many meeting and committee for nothing
    Bureaucracy
    Management didn't look for employee interest or student interest but for themself

    Advice to Management

    Management should not raise salary for the top high earning vice president while lay off low level employee in order to keep up with their head count. Management should reduce their travel and time spent for travel and conference while low level employee did all the work. I'm so disappointed at UT System leadership.

    I have been working at University of Texas System full-time

    Pros

    Small office, wonderful temporary office space and the rank and file are pleasant to work with

    Cons

    Management does not know what they are doing because they lack overall experience. It may be because they are Academics who couldn't make it in academia so took the next option available to them to the detriment of the System.

    Advice to Management

    The System really needs to evaluate this office and the leadership in charge.
