I worked at University of Texas at Arlington part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You could work on homework if you weren't needed to do anything else.
The employers were very appreciative and showed it.
They always had leftover food that you could eat!
They always were fair and forgiving if you messed up.
    Got a raise every year.

    Cons

You didn't get to do any homework if you became a favorite student worker.
Sometimes some supervisors took their frustration out on you.

    Advice to Management

Remember that these are student workers, and their lives are at this school. While they are working for you, they are worried about that one test that can set them back another year. Talk to them before you send email blasts about the issues with the student workers.

    Pros

Health Care and paid time off is the only positive to the job. You will need both for your sanity!

    Cons

The environment can be hostile and system is political and stressful. I wouldn't wish this work environment on anyone! Stay until you gain experience and then move on!

    Advice to Management

Look out for your employees. Stop playing favorites . The pay is awful, most of us with degrees deserve more then the post-high school salary.
