U of U has seriously world class researchers. If you find the right lab, you'll be amazed at the quality of work that goes on here. You don't need to be at an Ivy League school to do solid work.

The pay for students who aren't funded by a research grant can be pretty low. But it's still better than paying 6 figures to get an MD!
