    Fun job for decent pay

    Pros

Decent pay for teaching kids. Hours were easy for a simple summer job. Was able to control my own work environment by determining my own lessons (I was a student teacher). Free lunch.

    Cons

Job was only for 6 weeks per summer. Pay did not increase enough from summer to summer even when the tasks became more demanding.

Typical Big University - Bureaucracy at its finest but fair and honest. Solid.

    Pros

State Govt., 14.2% yearly retirement benefit. 457B and 403B. 'Shadow IT' and really nice programming jobs available outside of UIT often provide a very nice work environment. Semi-autonomous, agile teams in nooks and crannies.

    Cons

State Govt., lower salary than industry, lots of hoops to get anything done in IT world. Often slow-paced with too much to do. UIT is overly, self-regulated.
