    Pros

    Supervisors are friendly.
    They prioritize your studies, eg- they understand if we have to cancel our shifts due to academic reasons on short notices.

    I worked at University of Victoria as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Amazing supervisors, flexible, good pay, meet people from all around the world, great co-workers, plenty of free food, fun shifts, I could keep going but I think you're getting the picture

    Cons

    The only con that I can think of would be there seniority list when you are getting started. Other than that I can't think of any.

    Advice to Management

    I can't think of any advice the the ELC upper management, well done :)

    Timesheets must be submitted by you and as such pay periods can be missed and hours worked must be guessed at if the submission date is before the pay period end date

    Pros

    Diversity is not just a trending word here - it is practiced and celebrated. Being a minority, I feel empowered. Every department takes care to have a good mix of people from different groups - age, sex, culture, etc.

    Cons

    I have not seen any to date.

    the students
    my colleagues
    professional development opportunities
    always something interesting happening!
    can commute to work by bike

    salary adjustments do not keep up with inflation
    opportunities for advancement is limited in some departments
    some managers were put in place without supervisory/HR training
    limited parking if you drive

    Advice to Management

    proD funding is inadequate, especially if there are professional membership costs - UofA has a great model of reduced tuition for all university staff
    Love the overall vision guiding the university - keep it up
    If you're going to prioritize recruiting international students then we need to enhance our existing support infrastructure and programs for those students (especially for what they pay!)
