    Pros

Eternally funded benefits, if you can get em.

    Cons

I'm not sure UW has a latin slogan: that seems to be a thing of the past, but if they needed one to describe and prevailing culture of University leadership, look no further than the title of this review. While the institution itself has an incredible reputation for innovation in engineering and computing, it's a miracle of modern management that this place manages to function.

    Advice to Management

    Reboot.

    Pros

People are friendly, atmosphere is good. Fairly flexible as long as the work gets done!

    Cons

Big organization and the difficulties of doing anything productive faster than a snail.

    Advice to Management

Try and eliminate some of the barriers that slow down progress. Try and streamline projects better.

    Pros

Good pay, working with (mostly) kind faculty members, and great amount and difficulty of work given to the coop students.

    Cons

Management had unwritten rules, and a couple specific team members had attitude problems. Training was terrible considering they don't hire IT specialists.

    Advice to Management

Train your co-op students better, and fix the attitude problems of certain members of supervision/management.

I worked at University of Waterloo full-time

    Pros

Super friendly staff, there is opportunity for growth from within once you get your foot in the door.

    Cons

Expectations are set rather high and not always realistic for the actual position outlined.
If you are NOT university educated you will feel somewhat of an outcast in that regard as many employees are former students. Most there did make me feel welcome.

    Advice to Management

I don't believe my hiring manager was an issue I think it may have been senior level staff influence that they really need to pay more attention to the biases.
