I worked at University of Waterloo (Less than a year)

    Pros

Able to work independently in the research project.
Relative good salary for the post-doc level.

    Cons

Can´t think of any. Post-doc experience varies too much.

    Advice to Management

Get more involved in the initial stages after anyone has started working.

    Pros

Waterloo is good place to live. UW is good place to study.

    Cons

The work process of staff (such as paperworks) is usually slow

    Advice to Management

As a postdoc, one should be work hard and keep a good relationship with the professor.

I worked at University of Waterloo (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Exceptionally diverse range of coursework; supervised access to a range of brain imaging hardware and software for analysis; excellent staff to help you along the way.

    Cons

    Really long hours, pay sucks.

    Advice to Management

White rice and honey isn't an ideal meal plan - pay your students enough to be able to support themselves!

    Pros

TAing is easy work. Most weeks, you do not work the full 10 hours, but come exam time, expect to take 20 or more hours a week to grade exams and assignments

    Cons

A TA position is pretty much a scholarship in disguise. The pay is fair, but considering that graduate students do not get a tuition stipend, a lot of the money goes towards tuition, leaving little for rent and food.

    Advice to Management

A higher pay. No graduate student should have to work two jobs in order to make ends meet while going to school, but I had to.
