    Pros

Excellent learning environment, vibrant organization - training opportunities are plentiful and varied and may be located in a variety of areas.

    Cons

Organizational change is slow; employees are unsure of management motives, especially during times of departmental consolidation. Communication could be better and more frequent.

    Advice to Management

    Adapt quicker to opportunities

    Pros

It is a nice school to get education and tuition remission through my job.

    Cons

Salaries are low to live in city without working on another job.

    Advice to Management

The salaries of the assistants should go up or the rents of the university housing should go down to allow students to live with their salary.

    Pros

    - Good quality to research with large degree of freedom
    - Multiple opportunities for career development (workshops, conferences, small grants, outreach,...)
    - Good writing center to help with writing in English
    - On-campus lake with one of the oldest sailing club in US ( can do sail/windsurf after work)

    Cons

    - Long list of possible course is in fact shorter (thought every other year or faculty left/died)
    - There are faculty bullying the students and nothing can be done because they publish a lot
    - International students pay 1/3 more of segregated fees than US nationals
    - My PhD program wasn't prepared to handle students with health problems
    - The university has student diversity problems
    - People weren't very sociable after work

I have been working at University of Wisconsin-Madison full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Professional Development Funds
    Nice and friendly people

    Cons

Do NOT value employees! All talk and no actions! All about valuing employees but they know nothing! There's high status and low status employees. There's nothing in between. The gap of pay is $20K.

    Advice to Management

Management does not value the lower status who's trying to get up. We're always being thrown under the bus and does not receive credit. Heck. Management even take our credits!
